New Zealand not issuing visa to Mike Tyson
Sport
Former world heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson will not be able to arrive in New Zealand, as the country’ authorities have denied issuing a visa to the 46-year-old former boxer.
The New Zealand authorities reached such decision because Tyson was previously convicted of rape. The legendary boxer was preparing to attend the “Day of the Champions.”
The New Zealand authorities had initially granted Tyson entry because a children’s health charity would get some of the proceeds from his speech at the event, but Prime Minister John Key and women’s organizations harshly criticized this decision, nbcsports.msnbc.com reports.
