Obama backer to issue film depicting bin Laden manhunt

The National Geographic Channel has announced that it will air Seal Team Six: The Raid on Osama bin Laden, a feature film that details the manhunt that took down the late al-Qaeda leader in Pakistan on May 2, 2011, USA Today informs.
The film is produced by Nicolas Chartier, who producedThe Hurt Locker, and distributed by The Weinstein Company, according to a press release e-mailed by the channel. The Weinstein Company was founded by brothers Harvey and Bob Weinstein. In August, Harvey Weinstein hosted a fundraiser for Obama at his home in Connecticut, as reported by USA TODAY's David Jackson in The Oval.
The film, directed by John Stockwell, will premiere Sunday, Nov. 4, two days before Election Day.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, "the timing of the bin Laden movie is notable because the events chronicle one of the crowning achievements of President Obama's first term in office: the manhunt and the eventual killing of the al-Qaeda leader."
"The events portrayed in the film were vetted by a team of experts, including a recently retired Navy SEAL, a top CIA operative and one of the most renowned bin Laden historians," the press release reads
