Opposition Georgian Dream coalition head Bidzina Ivanishvili in an interview with The New Times magazine, replying to the editor’s question, that not being a public figure, why he got engaged in politics, Ivanishvili replied: “Only for my hometown. I faced a choice: either hometown or politics. I was living in France and I’m back only for my hometown.”
We, Georgians are a strange nation, we’re closely tied to our land. Here, for example, there live lots of Armenians and I wonder at them. How can they live on an alien land, when hometown is so close? Maybe you didn’t think over this question, but this is incomprehensible for me. I lived in France and in the USA, but at night my land was calling me. We Georgians are like this.
The newspaper informs that Ivanishvili’s total interview will be published on Monday’s publication of The New Times.
