Bidzina Ivanishvili appeared with the explanation of his scandalous statement:
"One of my answers in the interview to the journalist of the newspaper «The New Times» Evgenia Albats, entailed misunderstanding and consequently I considered necessary to provide the following explanations:
On a question of the journalist concerning my and my family’s return to Georgia, as well as about my engagement into politics and elections, I gave the extensive answer, while only its small part has been used in the interview that completely transformed and distorted the context. It turned out that I, allegedly, wonder that Armenians live here, though their homeland is nearby.
I would like to note that all citizens of Georgia are equal irrespective of their ethnic origin. This is guaranteed by the Constitution of Georgia and it is also my personal belief.
As to the interview, on a question of the journalist I accurately noted that I admire the special talent of Armenians and Jews who can be citizens of the world and are always successful wherever they live and have strong diaspora everywhere. We, the Georgians, are such a strange people that unfortunately, couldn't take roots and create strong diaspora anywhere. That was the core context of my answer.
Hereby I would like to note once again that Georgia is a multinational state and it is the homeland of all people living here."
As Lurer.com reported earlier head of opposition "Georgian dream" coalitiin Bidzina Ivanishvili in an interview with The New Times magazine said that he wondered that "Armenians live in Georgia, when thier homeland is so close."
