On October 13, the OIF Summit decided to accept Armenia as full member in the International Organization of La Francophonie, Armenian MFA press service informs.
“I wish to extend my thanks for this expression of trust and contentment in connection with our country’s joining the large francophone family. We are proud that the Armenian civilization, culture and language will have their place in the shared heritage of La Francophonie.
It is apparent that Armenia is connected with France and the French-speaking countries by special ties. Our destinies are linked by the commitment toward peace, liberty, democracy, and protection of human rights. As a full member in the Organization, Armenia will be able to further deepen its cooperation with the member countries.
Armenia, together with the La Francophonie-member countries, will exert active efforts to further consolidate the Organization’s international role,” Edward Nalbandian stated addressing the Summit, once the aforesaid decision was made.
