The Guardian: the hearings of the Serb President launch in the Hague
World Press
Yesterday the former Serb leader Radovan Karadžić began his defense at the Yugoslav tribunal. Karadžić is one of the trio, who is charged in Hague for provoking war between the multi-ethnic Yugoslav nations and the successor countries in 1991 and 1999, as a result of which, about 100000 people died and millions were dislodged.
Bosnian Serb military leader Ratko Mladich’s trial was held this year, and Miloshnevich died in 2006, before the end of his trial.
Note that Karadžić’s trial began in 2009.He was arrested in 2008: he was working as an alternative medical charlatan under the name Dragan David Dabich.
As to Goran Hajinch, who is the last one of all the 161 suspects, who remained alive and was still in liberty after the collapse of Yugoslavia, then he was arrested last year on charges of torture and murder.
