India ambassador: We are ready to work with Armenia in framework of North-South transport corridor

Iran and India cooperate closely in the framework of the North-South corridor. India is ready to work with Armenia in the framework of the North-South transport corridor and find out what benefits it can bring to the country. Ambassador of India to Armenia, Nilakshi Saha Sinha, stated this at the conference, on the topic of "New Regional Realities and The ‘Crossroads of Peace,’" being held in Armenia’s capital of Yerevan.

According to her, the movement of global development towards Asia creates a unique significance for regional interdependence.

Realizing this, the government of India has initiated the Chabahar Port development project, which can become a part of the North-South corridor, and Armenia has expressed interest in participating in that project, the Indian diplomat added.

India welcomes Armenia's wish to use the Chabahar Port and reduce its dependence, given its lack of access to the sea. India is ready to participate in the development of Armenia's road infrastructure. The relations between Armenia and India have a centuries-old history, and Iran was the place that contributed to the development of these relations, the Indian ambassador emphasized.

She recalled that renowned Armenian Shahamir Shahamirian had founded a printing house in Madras—now Chennai—India back in 1771, where the text of the future constitution of independent Armenia was written.

Historical ties create solid foundations for the development of relations today. The world is changing, and interdependence is becoming one of the important components of the new world order. Political dialogues between Iran, India, and Armenia took place in Yerevan in April. The key idea of the consultations was interdependence, concluded the ambassador of India to Armenia.
