Assistant Secretary O’Brien will not visit Yerevan
PoliticalAssistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs James C. O'Brien is not planning to visit Armenia after Azerbaijan, a State Department spokesperson told .
“We have no further travel details to provide beyond what was included in the media note we put out yesterday. This particular trip by A/S O’Brien to the South Caucasus will only be to Baku due to time constraints, but our senior officials often travel to the other countries in the region as well. We continue to engage in meetings with both Armenia and Azerbaijan in pursuit of peace.
Senior Advisor for Caucasus Negotiations Lou Bono is also traveling in the region and will be making a stop in Yerevan as part of his routine diplomatic engagements” the source said.
Earlier the State Department informed that Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs James C. O’Brien will travel to Baku, Azerbaijan and Bucharest and Tulcea, Romania, December 6-8. While in Baku, the Assistant Secretary will meet with Azerbaijani officials on strengthening bilateral relations and supporting the peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
