EU foreign policy chief welcomes Armenia-Azerbaijan joint statement
WorldEU welcomes the joint statement by Armenia and Azerbaijan announcing the mutual release of detainees and other confidence-building measures—an important political step. Josep Borrell, the European Union (EU) High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, noted this on X, former Twitter.
“We concur - there is a historic chance to achieve peace in the region &are committed to supporting these efforts,” added the EU foreign policy chief.
On Thursday evening, it was reported that Armenia and Azerbaijan reached an agreement on steps aimed at confidence-building between them. And within the framework of these measures, Azerbaijan will release 32 Armenian soldiers, and Armenia will release two Azerbaijani soldiers.
