Alexei Overchuk: Russia ready to help unblock South Caucasus transport communications
RussiaRussia is ready to continue its assistance in unblocking transport communications in the South Caucasus, including railway, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk told reporters in Yerevan Friday.
According to him, the unblocking of communications in the region is carried out in accordance with the tripartite statement by the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia, and a work group, under the chairmanship of the deputy prime ministers of these three countries, has been set up for this objective.
"This work group has met, documents have been developed, which are highly prepared. First of all, it’s about unblocking railway traffic. We are ready to continue this work; the Russian Federation acts as a mediator. If the parties are ready to continue this work, we are also ready to participate here," Overchuk said after the meeting of the Armenian-Russian intergovernmental commission.
In his words, the positive thing is that the parties are starting to work directly with each other.
