Armenia, UNICEF officials discuss ensuring right to education of children forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh
WorldThe Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia, Zhanna Andreasyan, received the UNICEF Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia, Regina De Dominicis.
The minister emphasized Armenia's effective cooperation with UNICEF in both sectoral programs and additional challenges arising in difficult times. Also Andreasyan stressed the role of UNICEF in the development of the national plan for the development of education in Armenia until 2030 and the implementation of the respective work.
In turn, Regina De Dominicis also highlighted UNICEF’s effective cooperation with Armenia in the education sector, and welcomed the large-scale reforms being implemented by the Armenian government at all levels of education.
In addition, the parties reflected on ensuring the right to education of Armenian children forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh and their inclusion in Armenia’s public schools.
Zhanna Andreasyan emphasized the role of social workers in finding children excluded from education. Also, the minister expressed gratitude for the assistance by UNICEF to the work of the youth sector.
During the meeting, several other matters of bilateral interest were also discussed, and the interlocutors expressed readiness for efforts to make their current collaboration more effective.
