Western money for Ukraine to change nothing in special operation — Kremlin
Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov is certain that more money allocated by the West for Ukraine will not change the course of events in the special military operation.
"This money is unable to change the course of events in the special military operation," Peskov told the media. "We are pushing ahead with it. For us, the main thing is to achieve the goals that are in front of us."
The Russian leader's spokesman was commenting on the European Union’s contingency plans which, according to the Financial Times, envisage 20 billion euros in financial aid to Ukraine.
"This money is being allocated to the detriment of the EU economies, which are already struggling through hard times. This money is being allocated to the detriment of the industry of the EU countries and to the detriment of the future of the EU countries," Peskov emphasized.
In his opinion, the US and Europe have already realized that a significant part of these funds is being plundered.
"Both the Europeans and Americans perfectly understand the level of corruption [in Ukraine]. They realize that a considerable part of this money is being stolen," Peskov pointed out. He specified that "the leadership of the countries that allocate the money also knows this," and most importantly, "this is gradually getting clear and will get still more clear to the taxpayers of these countries."
"They will hardly like it," Peskov believes.
"Of course, we understand that the European Union is experiencing quite serious contradictions within itself on the issue of continuing to allocate the money. The more so, since this money is not meant for creation. This money is allocated to keep the war going and to support a regime that is spending it for unknown purposes and with unknown efficiency," Peskov said.
