Sweden starts giving Turkish companies export permits for defense products
World PressSweden has started issuing Turkish companies export permits for defense products. Turkish Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Burak Akcapar informed about this in the parliament, during the discussion of the protocol on Sweden's accession to NATO, TASS reported.
"Sweden lifted the embargo on Turkey’s defense industry products. After the process [of Sweden’s NATO membership] started, the applications made by Turkish companies were concluded positively," Akcapar said, Yeni Safak daily reported.
The aforesaid newspaper recalled that Sweden imposed a ban on the export of defense industry products to Turkey since 2019. But in September 2022, when the review of Sweden's bid began, the embargo was lifted and the process of accepting the bids of the Turkish side began.
The Turkish parliament's foreign affairs committee on Tuesday approved the ratification of the protocol of Sweden's accession to NATO. Now this document will be put to the vote of the Turkish legislature in its entirety. The date of this vote, however, is not yet known. The Turkish parliament will go on winter break on Friday.
