Ecuador security forces arrest 329 people, kill 5 criminals, says head of army Joint Command

Ecuador's armed forces and national police have arrested 329 suspected criminals and killed five others ever since the unrest began in the country, said Jaime  Vela Erazo, head of the Joint Command of Ecuador's Armed Forces.

"We have seized 61 weapons of different calibers, 418 bullets, 24 explosive devices, detained 329 terrorists. Forty-one people were saved from captivity. We have destroyed five terrorists," Erazo said during a press conference, whose video of which was posted on his blog, La Voz del Tomebamba.

According to him, the Ecuadorian military and police had to confront three armed groups three times and managed to capture 28 escaped prisoners.
