RFE/RL: FM Mirzoyan confirms Azerbaijan seeing problem in Armenia Declaration of Independence
Armenia
Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan has confirmed that Azerbaijan sees problems in Armenia's Declaration of Independence.
"And they [i.e. Azerbaijan] have said about it out loud, yes. They have considered it a problem and presented legal issues. Accordingly, we also have considered their wording to be problematic in the same way," the Armenian FM stated in an interview with the RFE/RL Armenian Service.
The preamble of the current Constitution of Armenia makes a reference to the country’s Declaration of Independence, where there is a reference also to the reunification of Armenia and Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh).
A few days ago, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that Armenia should have a new constitution, "which will make the country more competitive and viable in the new geopolitical and regional conditions."
