National park, which is on UNESCO World Heritage Site list, burning in Argentina

The Los Alerces National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is burning in Argentina, Telam news agency reported.

The fire is currently active in all areas, and more than a thousand hectares are burning, according to Mario Cardenas, head of the park's fire, communications, and emergency department.

More than 250 firefighters are trying to put out the fire.

The Los Alerces National Park was created in 1937 to preserve the local natural landscapes.

In 2017, it was put on the UNESCO World Heritage Site list.

The largest forest of Fitzroya trees in Argentina is located in the park. They are huge coniferous trees that grow only in Chile and Argentina.
