Ioannis Plakiotakis: Greece government ready to support Armenia in all possible directions
PhotosArmenian Ambassador to Greece Tigran Mkrtchyan met with the first deputy speaker of the Greek parliament, Ioannis Plakiotakis, the Armenian embassy in Greece informs Armenian News-NEWS.am.
The ambassador expressed his gratitude for the formation of the Greece-Armenia friendship group in the Greek parliament, and emphasized the effective activities of the two friendship groups and the productive use of the tools of parliamentary diplomacy.
Also, the envoy of Armenia presented his interlocutor the latest regional developments, the current state of the Armenia-Azerbaijan negotiation process, highlighted the EU's role in establishing peace and stability in the region. In this context, the ambassador thanked Greece and the European Union for their assistance to the needs of the Armenians forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh.
Referring to the Armenian-Greek bilateral relations, Ambassador Mkrtchyan stressed the importance of giving a new impetus to the economic relations and the intensification of mutual visits.
In his turn, the deputy speaker of the Greek parliament noted the high level of cooperation between the two countries, and emphasized that the Greek government is ready to support Armenia in all possible directions.
Reflecting on regional developments, the legislature vice-speaker reaffirmed Greece's position, condemned all manifestations of violence in the context of Nagorno-Karabakh, expressed concern regarding the solution of the humanitarian problems that have arisen, and expressed unequivocal support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Armenia.
Also, Plakiotakis expressed satisfaction with Armenia's steadfast support in the Cyprus issue.
