Rome Statute enters into force in Armenia
ArmeniaArmenia has officially joined the International Criminal Court (ICC).
"The Rome Statute of the ICC has entered into force in Armenia as of February 1. Joining the ICC enables Armenia to prevent war crimes and crimes against humanity on its own soil," said Yeghishe Kirakosyan, Armenia's representative on international legal affairs, reported the Russian service of Deutsche Welle.
According to Kirakosyan, the aforesaid primarily refers to Azerbaijan.
The Armenian National Assembly has ratified the Rome Statute on October 3, 2023.
And in November 2023, the ICC had announced that the Rome Statute will enter into force for Armenia on February 1, 2024.
