Political analyst: Armenia constitution being changed at Azerbaijan demand
AnalyticalThe constitution of Armenia is being changed at the demand of Azerbaijan, political analyst Argishti Kiviryan told a press conference Thursday.
According to Kiviryan, that's why Armenia is perceived not as a subject, but as an object; moreover, by Azerbaijan which no one “touches” yet because of its oil and geographical location, but also no one takes it seriously.
In his opinion, Azerbaijan will continue to posit new demands to Armenia.
"[Armenian PM Nikol] Pashinyan's goal is to maintain [his] power at any cost; be it at the cost of peace or war. He does what is most effective to maintain power. Even before the 44-day war [in 2020], Pashinyan would have signed everything he signed later if he knew that it would not lead to a change of power [in Armenia].
“By changing the constitution [of Armenia], he wants to make the entire [Armenian] nation a participant in the crime. If the constitutional changes happen, Pashinyan will rely on the fact that they were implemented by the people. In the same way, he made the whole [Armenian] people complicit in the fall of Artsakh [(Nagorno-Karabakh)]. At the same time, he will try to convince the people that the alternative to these [constitutional] changes is a new war and new losses," Kiviryan added.
