Amnesty International calls on ICC to investigate killings of Palestinians as possible war crimes
Middle EastThe International Criminal Court (ICC) should investigate the increasing attacks on and killings of Palestinian residents of the West Bank of the Jordan River for war crimes committed by Israeli forces. Such a call is contained in a statement published on the website of the international human rights organization Amnesty International.
According to it, the Israeli military has intensified raids in the West Bank over the past few months, during which it has committed unlawful killings of Palestinians, using force unnecessarily, as well as denying medical care to the victims. At least 507 Palestinians, including 81 children, have fallen victim to them, making 2023 the deadliest year for Palestinians since the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs began keeping records of such cases in 2005, according to the organization.
Amnesty International therefore called on the ICC prosecutor to investigate the killings and attacks as possible war crimes, which the organization said constituted a flagrant violation of international human rights law.
