Armenia PM on new constitution: At the moment the ruling power has no package to put on table
VideoWhen talking about the "fourth republic," the ruling power does not have the goal of erasing something or creating something. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced this while answering the question of Sona Ghazaryan, an MP of the ruling majority faction, during Wednesday’s question-and-answer session with the government at the National Assembly of Armenia.
According to Pashinyan, the concept of the "fourth republic" was proposed by taking into account the example of France, when after changing the country's constitution, the dating of the country is also changed.
"I want us not to cause confusion; this is what it’s about," the Armenian premier stated, clarifying that at the moment, the ruling political force does not have a package to put on the table, which, according to him, is not bad. On the contrary, it is good because during the discussion with the Armenian public, it will become clear why this change of the constitution is being made.
As per the PM, no attempt will be made with the new constitution to adapt the power in Armenia to the existing government. He said the ruling power has no such intention, and it has no intention to rig the referendum on the new constitution. In Nikol Pashinyan’s words, the new constitution will be accepted when the Armenian society gives its approval.
