FM Lavrov: Russia strengthens Collective Security Treaty Organization potential
RussiaRussia strengthens the potential of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sergey Lavrov, during the Russian government's question-and-answer session in the State Duma, TASS reported.
"Together with the allies, we [i.e. Russia] are strengthening the potential of the CSTO as an important regional defense structure, which is responsible for ensuring the security of member states of the organization and maintaining stability in Eurasia," Lavrov said. "The task of forming a new continental security structure in the Eurasian area has matured, to which the international conference was dedicated in October 2023, in [the Belarusian capital of] Minsk, at the initiative of [Belarusian President] Aleksandr Lukashenko."
"The topic is quite promising, in line with modern geopolitical trends. Taking into account the development of the concept of Eurasian security in various international platforms," added the Russian FM.
To note, Armenia also is a member in the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
