Armenia sincerely aims for swift opening of state border with Turkey: Foreign Minister

Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said in an interview with the Turkish "Anadolu" news agency within the framework of participation in the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, addressing the possibility of opening the border with Turkey.
Minister Ararat Mirzoyan discussed the process of normalizing relations with Turkey, Armenia's stance on opening the border, existing agreements and expectations.
Speaking about the importance of opening borders, Ararat Mirzoyan noted that it is of paramount importance for the development of relations, primarily economic ones.
Mirzoyan recalled that as part of this process, special representatives were appointed on both sides who conducted contacts through personal meetings and telephone conversations.
Ararat Mirzoyan recalled that the parties had reached an agreement on opening of the land border between Turkey and Armenia for citizens of the third countries and diplomatic passport holders.
The FM Mirzoyan also mentioned that discussions about restoring the historical Ani bridge are underway. The minister added that agreements had been reached regarding the construction of infrastructure and roads in the border regions.
"Armenia sincerely desires the state borders to be opened at the earliest opportunity, diplomatic relations to be established and connections between the two peoples and cultures to be expanded," said the Foreign Minister.
