Biden directs US military to establish pier in Gaza to increase humanitarian aid flow

US President Joe Biden began his State of the Union saying that democracy in the US and abroad are under attack. Criticizing the US Congress over its inaction to provide funds to Ukraine for their defense, Biden stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin would not stop if he were victorious in Ukraine.  
 
The president also sharply criticized former President Donald Trump's recent speech in which he told Putin to invade NATO allies' countries saying that such behavior is "outrageous, it's dangerous and unacceptable".  
 
Biden also congratulated Finland and Sweden on their accession to NATO, saying that NATO is "stronger than ever". He urged Congress to stand up to Putin, reiterating that "history is watching". 
 
US President Joe Biden ordered the US military to establish a pier in Gaza during his State of the Union speech to allow for more humanitarian aid to flow to the enclave. He said that Israel has a "fundamental responsibility" to protect innocent civilians in the strip, adding that more than 30,000 had been killed since the start of the Israel - Hamas war in October 2023.  
 
Biden added that no US troops would be dispatched to Gaza under the plan. The president also reiterated his commitment to a two-state solution between Israel and Palestine.
