Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra users complain of strange smell coming from smartphone
Science and cultureThe owner of the flagship smartphone Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra complained about a strange smell coming from the built-in S Pen stylus. Other users of the device confirmed the complaint in comments on the Reddit forum.
"Why does my S Pen smell so bad? Either I have a sensitive nose, or the internals of this thing are melting when it's inside. Please tell me I'm not crazy," wrote the thread's author with the username LatifYil.
Other owners of Samsung Galaxy S Ultra flagship smartphones also noted the presence of a burnt plastic smell in the comments, which puzzled some device owners as they hadn't noticed it before.
"The post author made me sniff my stylus. I can confirm it stinks," added user bobissonbobby.
It turned out that this is not the first case of such a problem — at least, users of the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, released in early 2022, also encountered the same issue. This is indicated by a post on the Samsung forum from an owner of both the new and old flagship models of the company.
According to a Samsung forum moderator, when the S Pen is installed in the smartphone, it is close to the internal components of the device, which generate heat during use and can cause plastic to heat up. Because of this, the stylus may emit a specific odor, but this is considered normal and does not cause any particular concern.
