CSTO responded to Pashinyan's question about area of responsibility
WorldThe Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) considers its area of responsibility in Armenia to be its sovereign territory within the regulated national borders, the CSTO told RBC.
This is how the CSTO responded to Yerevan's request to clarify the matter of the area of this organization’s responsibility in Armenia.
"The wording about the zone of responsibility is quite complicated, and it aims more to draw attention to the situation in the [Armenian] republic than to get an objective answer, as according to the 2010 agreement on the principles of cooperation, which was signed by the CSTO, the area of responsibility is considered the sovereign territory of the member states," also states the response of this organization.
The aforementioned document is the agreement on the status of formation of forces and means of the CSTO collective security system, signed in Moscow in 2010.
"The territory of responsibility of the CSTO ends where the national border passes, which is regulated between Armenia and its neighbors on a bilateral basis," this organization added in its response.
