France's Macron inaugurates Olympic swimming pool
ԱշխարհReuters. France's President Emmanuel Macron inaugurated the Paris 2024 aquatics centre on Thursday (April 4), a venue that will host events such as diving, synchronised swimming and water polo.
The freshly finished venue situated in the north of Paris near the Stade de France can welcome up to 5,000 spectators.
The aquatic centre's pool was first filled with water in mid-December 2023. It contains more than 5,500 cubic metres (19,4231 cubic feet) of water. After several filling tests, the pool was definitively filled in February.
This site is the Paris Olympics' most expensive structure, with a budget of 151 million euros (162 million dollars).
Olympic swimming competitions will also take place elsewhere, such as at the Paris La Defense Arena in Nanterre, west of the French capital.
