Iran referred to Armenia-US-EU trilateral meeting held in Brussels
PoliticalAli Akbar Velayati, adviser on international affairs of the spiritual leader of Iran, referred to the Armenia-US-EU trilateral meeting held in Brussels.
According to the Tasnim news agency, Velayati accused the West of interfering in the affairs of the South Caucasus, creating threats to the security of countries in the region and preparing the ground for a military presence.
“Historically, Iran has been an important pillar of security and peace in this region. As we were against the launching of ‘Zangezur Corridor’, we are also against any other similar initiative,” added the official.
Velayeti stressed that they believe in Tehran that the best mechanism for settling problems in the South Caucasus is the ‘3+3’ platform.
According to him, Iran has historical relations with the peoples of Armenia and Azerbaijan, so the independence and territorial integrity of the two neighboring countries are very important.
