Newspaper: Armenia ex-president Robert Kocharyan, Vladimir Putin have telephone conversation
VideoPast daily of the Republic of Armenia (RA) writes as follows, in particular: According to Past newspaper’s information, a few days ago there was a telephone conversation between RA second president Robert Kocharyan and RF [(Russian Federation)] president Vladimir Putin. It became known to us that the head of Russia called Kocharyan on August 31, congratulated the second president on his 70th [birthday] anniversary.
We tried to contact the RA second president's office and find out details about the phone conversation, but it did not succeed.
In any case, the fact of the phone call itself is noteworthy, especially in the current situation. It is obvious that ahead of the political season, Russia is increasing its attention towards Armenia; on the one hand, they are beginning to restore the intensity of contacts with the [Armenian] authorities, as evidenced by the visits of the RF deputy prime minister, deputy foreign minister and various official figures, on the other hand, they are restoring contacts with traditional [Armenian] partners whose reliability has been proven over time. The last one is especially noteworthy, as the current authorities of Armenia have long proven that they are unreliable at least, ready for various provocations—depending on the possibility of keeping their power.
