About 87,000 children vaccinated on first day of polio vaccination in Gaza
PhotosEmployees of international humanitarian organizations have vaccinated about 87,000 children against poliomyelitis (polio) in the Gaza Strip on the first day of vaccination there. This was informed by the representation of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in the occupied Palestinian territories.
According to its data, about 2,200 health workers administer vaccinations at 392 stationary points. Also, about 300 mobile teams have been set up. It is planned to vaccinate 640,000 children up to 10 years old—and in two phases.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health had announced on August 16 that the first case of polio was recorded in central Gaza Strip.
