Mkhitar Hayrapetyan visits Aragats defense contractor
Middle EastMinister of High-Tech Industry Mkhitar Hayrapetyan has visited the headquarters of defense contractor Aragats LLC.
The company was founded in 1992 and specializes in the development and production of military-grade electronic devices.Aragats CEO Hovhannes Gharibyan briefed the minister on the latest reforms and industrial volumes of the company, the ministry said in a press release.
The defense contractor has developed and produced the thermal imaging device for the 9K111 Fagot anti-tank missile system. The cost of the device is approximately four times lower compared to similar ones produced in other countries, while the quality is on the highest level.Gharibyan said that the entire production of Aragats is in service in the Armenian Armed Forces, and that the company’s capacity has enabled them to consider starting exports.
The staff of the company grew tenfold over the past ten years.Options for expanding industrial areas and creating new infrastructures were discussed.
The minister expressed support for creating new infrastructures and highlighted the implementation of projects aimed at constantly developing and enhancing the military-industrial area.Government funding for scientific-technical research in the defense sector grew several times since 2018, which has enabled contractors, including Aragats, to expand the volume of developments.
