Fighting continues in Kursk and Belgorod regions
VideoFighting continues in the Kursk region, the Russian side reports preventing the progress of Ukrainian forces. The Belgorod region is also troubled, with the local government reporting that civilians have been injured in drone strikes.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that the armed forces of Ukraine now control 92 Russian settlements with an area of 1,250 square kilometers. According to him, the Ukrainian side is strengthening its positions and capturing Russian soldiers in order to later exchange them with Ukrainian prisoners of war. Zelensky added that replenishment of the exchange fund is one of the goals of the Ukrainian operation in the Kursk region.
Russian forces also launched an air strike on Kyiv. According to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, three missiles and 25 drones were shot down. There are no reports of casualties or damage.
