Napoleon's 2 pistols sold at auction for €1.69M
ArmeniaTwo pistols from Napoleon Bonaparte's collection were sold at an auction on Sunday for 1.69 million euros, reports AFP.
Organizers at Osenat and Rossini auction houses consider the sale of these guns "successful."
But they did not publicize information about the buyer.
Earlier, the Ministry of Culture of France had named those two pistols from Napoleon's collection as its national property and forbade them to be taken out of the country. The decision was made public a day before the guns were put up for auction.
The organizers of the Osenat auction house had estimated the lot at 1.2-1.5 million euros. According to the rules that apply to items with this status, they cannot be taken out of France without special permission from the authorities, and then they can be taken out only for a limited time.
