When peace treaty is signed, meaning of Minsk Group is lost: Alen Simonyan
SocietyArmenia is taking steps on its part, and that step is the signing of a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan. This was announced by Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan during the NA briefings, referring to Ilham Aliyev's statement that Armenia and Azerbaijan should take steps to dissolve the Minsk Group. What is Armenia's position regarding the issue?
"The talks related to the Minsk group are the talks that can happen after the peace treaty is concluded. In other words, when a peace treaty is signed, its meaning is lost, because it is the same Azerbaijan that says that Armenia has some aspirations, we have some aspirations, we have some demands. I say, we will sign the peace treaty, and the issue will be resolved," said Alen Simonyan.
The Speaker of the National Assembly also expressed puzzlement that when we are close to signing the peace treaty, when there are already agreements, why Aliyev is trying to attack the peace process.
"It would be good if Mr. President talked about the massacres in Sumgait, the massacres in Baku, he should have talked about that genocide first if we are going to peace. The side that wants peace should first of all point out and emphasize the open places that can hinder peace, instead of talking about such things," he said and added that such torpedoing is not acceptable, and Azerbaijan should first release the prisoners of war.
