Armenpress: European Parliament members issue statement on Armenia-France military cooperation

A group of MPs from all factions of the European Parliament have issued a joint statement in response to the criticisms, negative reaction, and threats of Azerbaijan and Russia regarding the Armenian-French military cooperation, Armenpress reports.

In their statement, these members of European Parliament (MEPs) emphasized that having a combat-ready army armed with modern military equipment is the sovereign right of any country.

These lawmakers of the European Parliament noted that the accusations being made by the regimes of Russia and Azerbaijan against Armenia that the latter is provoking a conflict in the South Caucasus, prove once again that there is a conspiracy between the two countries, which had led to the September 2023 ethnic cleansing of more than 140 thousand Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh.

These MEPs expressed surprise that authoritarian and aggressor countries such as Azerbaijan and Russia condemn the EU member state France, seeking to use existing differences and disagreements within or between the countries as a tool to achieve their own opportunistic goals.

This cannot be accepted by the European Union in any way, and it is high time to impose sanctions on the dictatorial Azerbaijani President Aliyev regime for its destructive actions undermining regional peace and security and human rights abuses, the aforesaid MEPs said in their statement.
