Is Apple developing a foldable iPhone? Evidence of this has been published
OtherThe technology corporation Apple continues to develop its activities in the field of foldable devices. The USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office) has approved the company's application for a patent for a new hinge design intended for creating two-sided foldable gadgets. PhoneArena reports this with reference to Patently Apple.
The hinge described in the patent is equipped with toothed plates that provide synchronization of rotation between the left and right halves of the device. This will allow implementing a vertical folding line of the screen, similar to the models of Samsung Galaxy Z Flip and Motorola Razr.
Although details about Apple's first foldable smartphone remain unknown, the patent mentions the possibility of using this hinge design in other types of foldable products, such as tablets. Rumor has it that Apple's first foldable device could be a hybrid of a tablet and a laptop with a 20.3-inch screen.
According to circulated information, the hybrid device will feature a large screen that can be used in laptop mode by tilting the top half, while the bottom half will have a keyboard with a trackpad. Presumably, such a gadget will hit the market in late 2025 or early 2026.
