A World War II fighter plane was recovered from the bottom of Lake Michigan after nearly 70 years with the hope that it will one day go on display.
According to military records, the plane crashed during a training mission near Waukegan, Illinois on Dec. 28, 1944. The plane apparently experienced engine failure and rolled off into Lake Michigan.
