Armenian delegation participates in the CSTO councils sitting

Armenia’s Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian, Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan and Armenia’s National Security Council’s Secretary Arthur Baghdasaryan participated today at the joint sitting of the CSTO councils of foreign, defense ministers and national security secretaries.
Armenia’s foreign ministry’s press service reports that the sitting has discussed and approved the agenda issues aimed at reinforcement of cooperation within the framework of the CSTO.
The ministers discussed the drafts of documents on reinforcement and development of the CSTO military element till 2020, development of the system of operative response in emergency situations, Uzbekistan’s membership to the CSTO, forecasts on the situation in Afghanistan.
The participants also discussed the priorities of the Kyrgyzstan’s chairmanship in the CSTO for the coming year, improvement of military-economic and military-technical cooperation, fighting against illegal drug trafficking, etc.
A number of documents have been signed as a result of the sitting and presented to the approval of the CSTO council.
