On New Year's Eve died Armenia's first life-term prisoner

At RA “Hospital for Convicts” penitentiary institution life prisoner Manuk Semirjyan, who was imprisoned for 22 years, died on the New Year’s Eve, Panorama.am was told by the civil initiative, dealing with the problems of life convicts. The latter learnt the news from Manuk’s sister.
According to the same source Manuk was the first life prisoner of the Independent Armenia. He was convicted in 1991 in murdering more than 2 people. After 20 years he had applied for getting early conditional release, the court, however, had refused.
He had surgery on his stomach for several times during those years.
