"Akos": Murder of 85 years Armenian woman in Turkey and the officials' silence
Turkey
The brutal killing of 85 years of Armenian woman in Turkey in late December was mentioned in the newspapers as an ordinary murder. However, the Armenian community in Turkey is concerned, since the circumstances of the killing were not published and the relevant authorities have not responded.
Article editor of "Akos", published in Istanbul, Robert Koptash, is dedicated to this fact.
"The murder of Maritza Kucuk at first sight is one of the everyday incidents in Turkey. They broke into her house, decapitated her and stole some jewelry. Police are investigating. Her family has a grief. The news reporters closed the subject, but officials remained silent", writes Koptash.
The editor, however, said that the murder is the second case of an attack on the Armenian women in the last month in Malatya, and for the people that has been known that Kucuk's murder takes different shape.
The connection between the two cases is frightening.
Again in Malatya, again in December, 87-year-old Armenian woman as Kucuk, was the victim of an attack.
The thieves got into her house and stole jewelry, but because of that attack the woman becameblind, she lay for some time in hospital, got intensive care and was discharged.
"The murder of Maritza Kucuk immediately reminded Armenians living in Istanbul this case. During the same month, in the same quarter two Armenian women are attacked, one of them has lost an eye, and the other - life. In addition, spread information that the body of Maritza Kucuk was found without clothes, in fact, the son of the deceased Zatik Kucuk said that the body of his mother was placed cross. Then he said, "Akos" that it did not look like a cross, but that option had once sounded", said the newspaper editor and wondered whether the woman was not killed because of Armenian descent.
Robert Koptash made a few questions, the answers to which the Armenians in Turkey are expected to get.
• Is it true that in the body of the Maritsa Kucuk was made a cross with a knife?
• Is an assault on two Armenian women in Malatya in the same period - a coincidence?
• Why were the both cases accompanied by such a simple robbery abuse?
• Is that a robbery? Women' jewelry was stolen, but was anything lost in the house or was it even a robbery or masking?
• Police told Kucuk's family that the crime committed "an amateur" and the detain of the criminals is simple in a few minutes. Whether is this approach correct?
In connection with the last question Koptash writes: "It's like Istanbul police chief Dzhelalettina Dzherraha's words immediately after Hrant Dink's murder: "This has nothing to do with the criminal group. This is a murder on a national basis. "After such a declaration has not been properly investigated, and even issued the conscience of the judge's verdict was unclean, and we all saw it."
"Perhaps we are worried for nothing. Maybe all suspicion in connection with the two cases is baseless. It may, indeed, Armenian women were victims of crimes occurring every day. But time is running and the officials do not make any representations, on the contrary, everyone is silent and prefers to pretend that nothing has happened, which increases anxiety of the Armenians living in Turkey," writes Koptash.
