Cristiano Ronaldo leads a united Real Madrid
Sport
An outstanding performance from Cristiano Ronaldo, whose hat-trick on the night set Real Madrid on its way to beating Celta de Vigo (4-0). Khedira closed the scoring and Sergio Ramos was sent off for a second yellow card offence.
Mourinho's men will now face Valencia in the quarter-finals of the Spanish Cup, the first leg at the Bernabéu and the second at Mestalla.
Xabi Alonso stayed in the dressing room at half-time with an obvious pain in his neck. Celta's De Lucas fell on Xabi's neck and the midfielder played no further part in the game as a precaution.
Mourinho brought on Varane in defence, pushing Essien forward to partner Khedira in a holding midfield role.
Mourinho was again the centre of attention at the Bernabéu. The Real Madrid coach looked short-tempered and annoyed, gesturing furiously at refereeing decisions. He even angrily kicked a ball down the tunnel towards the dressing rooms.
