The pen containing a secret pistol, given to Lord Mountbatten for his personal protection while Governor-general of India, is up for auction.

The gold-plated pen, which inspired an array of James Bond gadgets, was a gift from the Maharaja of Jodhpur in 1948.

It will be sold in London on March 21 with an estimated price tag of £7,000.
