In Yerevan's Kond district, the area adjacent to St. Hovhannes Baptist Church, three small buildings will be built for charitable purposes. The Armenian government yesterday decided to grant the land area of 1,000 square meters of the fund "Yerevan, My Love".
In one of the three buildings will function a center for needy children who have difficulties with hearing, another building provides for the needs of single mothers and children, and the third building is intended for members of the Church and for the spiritual needs of the community.
Moreover, that same government did not want to raise pensions at least for AMD 1000, referring to the fact that they say there is no money. And it is this government which approves the proposal of Mayor of Yerevan Taron Margaryan and decides to put an end to one million dollars.
Is such a profligate caused government's genius Taron Margaryan, has he managed to push the leadership to such generosity, or there is something else?
This is the foundation, which was established in February 2010, during President Serzh Sargsyan's visit to the UK. Then the Mayor of Yerevan was Gagik Beglaryan, but the sponsor and initiator was the former Prime Minister Armen Sargsyan, who was the chief organizer of the presidential visit.
Among the first donors of the "Yerevan, My Love" were Sergey Hambartsumyan (Russia), Samvel Karapetyan (Russia), Louise Manoogian Simone (USA) and Vache Manukyan (UK), Ruben Vardanian (Russia), corporate sponsors "Armrossgazprom" (Executive Director Karen Karapetyan), "Energoprojekt" (Executive Director Gagik Zakaryan and Eugene Bobilev), ENI (CEO Paolo Scaroni), HSBC (President Stephen Green), ITERA (CEO Igor Makarov), VimpelCom (CEO Boris Nemsic) Pierre Fattouch (Lebanon), Berge Setrakian (USA), Gagik Zakarian (Russia) and others.
It is difficult to say what role Mayor Gagik Beglaryan played in the establishment of the program, nevertheless the fact remains that due to the fund, he was able to meet with Prince Charles and introduce himself as the Mayor of that city, after which a representative of the royal family made even a speech.
This fund has given an opportunity to communicate with Prince Charles and the next Mayor of Yerevan, Karapetyan, which then gave him a reason to think that he was so affinity with the Prince, who may be invited to the wedding of his daughter.
But, as always, Taron Margaryan was lucky again, and it was during his tenure as the government presented such a gift of the fund "Yerevan, My Love", an initiative which, again, was in some way connected with Taron's name.
