27 days to collect votes

Today, on January 21 the presidential election campaign of the candidates starts, which will take place on February 18, the total number of the candidates is 8, though, 15 candidates have been nominated for presidency.

CEC did not register eight candidates due to non-payment, then gave them 48 hours of extra time to pay 8 million deposit. Within 48 hours only one of the candidates, "National Accord" party leader Aram Harutyunyan presented the eight million to CEC. The other 7 candidates did not want to continue the campaign.

The president of the National Federation of Karate of Armenia Taron Abrahamyan, President of the NGO "Armenian-Russian public organization", Robert Aharonyan, lawyer at the European Court of Human Rights Ruben Ayvazyan, physics Mher Hayrapetyan, the lecturer of the Armenian State pedagogical University after Khachatur Abovyan Narine Mkrtchyan, pensioner Pavlik Sargyian and the chairman of the NGO "Kashatagh" Robert Simonyan also wished to occupy the president's chair.

So, from January 21 to February 16, the following candidates with all possible means will try to win voters' hearts and votes; the incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan, the leader of "Heritage", ex-Foreign Minister Raffi Hovannisyan, Chairman of "Freedom", the former prime Minister Hrant Bagratyan, political analyst and director of "Radio-hay" Andreas Ghukasyan, former Foreign Minister of Nagorno-Karabakh, a political adviser to the network of civil society "Refugees and International Law" Arman Melikyan, the leader of the association "National Self-Determination" Paruyr Hayrikyan, nonpartisan Vardan Sedrakyan, the leader of "National accord" Aram Harutyunyan.
