Shakhtar at the training camp: Copa del Sol in figures

Today, 25 January, Shakhtar takes on Göteborg to kick off at Copa del Sol held for the fourth consecutive year. Incidentally, the Pitmen are the regular participants. Our side constantly play the Danish Kobenhavn, alongside the Norwegian Molde and Rosenborg.

In 10 matches, Shakhtar won six times, drew and lost twice. The team have scored 18 goals and conceded nine.

In the Copa del Sol 2010, the Orange-Blacks made it to the final to lock horns with CSKA Moskva. But the weather made some adjustments. The meeting was cancelled due to heavy showers and the organizers have recognized both sides as the winners.

The Donetsk outfit played Kobenhavn twice within the tournament – more than with any of the rest of participants. The two games ended in a draw and a win for the Danes.

Shakhtar’s encounter with Rosenborg on January 28 will be the second for the teams in the tournament. Two years ago, the Pitmen won 4-1 in the semifinal. The final match that year involved two Ukrainian sides: Shakhtar met with Karpaty. The Lviv side proved stronger to win 1-0.

Shakhtar played their games within the previous three editions in three different places: Copa del Sol 2010 - in Marbella, Copa del Sol 2011 - in Elche and in La Manga, Copa del Sol 2012 - in La Manga.
