Ex-governor detained for financial fraud in Georgia

The Financial Police of Georgian Finance Ministry has detained the former governor of Mtskheta-Tianeti region in eastern Georgia Cezar Chocheli. As a Financial Police representative told journalists at a briefing, he was accused of concealing illegal income from business activities.
If the court confirms Chocheli's charges, he will face 9 to 12 years of imprisonment.
Chocheli will be formally charged on Friday. The Financial Police is going to request two months of imprisonment as a measure of restraint.
Chocheli resigned from his post as governor a month ago.
