On Friday morning, Barcelona started its preparations for Sunday's Liga match against Osasuna without Lionel Messi. The player had to leave the field in the 82nd minute of the Copa del Rey's quarter final return game at La Rosaleda after experiencing muscle fatigue, for which he underwent a physio session.

Despite the club at first reporting that the substitution was precautionary, his absence has set alarm bells ringing.

Alex Song also did not take part in training, having spent the night in Malaga, after staying on for longer at the Rosaleda stadium to undergo a drugs test and therefore missing the plane which the rest of the Barcelona team took.
