Shakhtar against agents

On 26 January, at 16:30 EET, Shakhtar Donetsk will play a friendly with the Spanish select team of free agents.

Shakhtar’s opponents are a team in which players, who for various reasons have no contracts with professional clubs, can keep fit and prove themselves in friendly matches. And at best find a team.

Now the Sesiones AFE team are holding a monthly training camp in Spain. The coach of "players without contracts," is Pep Serer. It must be said, he is a known personality in football. Jose Perez Serer previously played for the Spanish sides such as Barcelona, Mallorca, Villarreal and Valencia. After finishing his career at the age of 34, he worked as a coach at Valencia and Barcelona’s youth set-up. The last venture of the Spanish specialist was Kairat Alma-Ata (from June to November 2012). Under him, the team took 10th place in the Kazakhstani championship. When leaving the country, Serer said that now he can spend more time with his family, but is sure to develop further as a professional.

The current squad includes a variety of players; those born from 1978 to 1993. Many of the players previously played in the Spanish La Liga. For example, defender Oriol Lozano played six seasons for Racing Santander, and his last club was Murcia. Midfielder Fernando Varela spent a total of 13 years at Betis and Majorca.
