RA Police found bullet at site of assassination attempt against Hayrikyan

Armenia’s Police released an official statement with respect to Thursday night’s assassination attempt against presidential candidate, opposition National Self-Determination Union Chairman Paruyr Hayrikyan.

The police received information, on January 31 at around 11:30pm, that Paruyr Hayrikyan was shot at a building courtyard.

It was found out that an unidentified person shot with a gun, at around 11:20p.m., at RA presidential candidate Paruyr Hayrikyan, causing a gunshot wound at the right collarbone area. Hayrikyan was taken to hospital.

A joint operational-investigative team is established.

One 7.62-mm-caliber bullet is found during search at the scene of the incident. Comprehensive examinations are commissioned.

The necessary measures are taken to reveal the identity of, and to find, the person that committed the crime.

NSS Department of Investigation is conducting the investigation,” the Police official statement reads in particular.
