Theft in South Caucasus Railway

Theft on the railway is not only criminal phenomenon, but also a real threat to the life and health of citizens.

From an unaware man’s point of view it is not of special importance to steal a few meters of cable, but in fact it can lead to loss of communication between stations, switches, lights, coordination disruption in train schedule and as a consequence to serious accidents and train wrecks.
Since the beginning of 2013 theft cases have increased in South Caucasus Railway. Only from 7 to 20 January an unknown man has stolen the cable on Yeghvard-Proshyan stretch 5 times.

Police officers and CJSC "SCR" managed to track down and arrest the likely criminal who turned a homeless. In a small house near the railroad tracks were found a bed, stove, pick, shovel, and 17 meters of stolen cable.

Recall that in May last year officers of the Criminal Investigation Department of Masis detained five young people from Aintap who regularly stole cable from South Caucasus Railway handing it to the metal scrap at a lower price.

As a result the damage to the railway property exceeded 536,000 drams.

Once again CJSC "SCR" emphasizes that such theft of equipment and communication facilities of the railway are banned and may cause damages to the trains, the life and health of passengers.
